Northeast Generals: Week in review

This week saw both the NA3HL and NAHL Generals earn wins. The NAHL group went 1-1 and the NA3HL group went 3-0 and remains undefeated.

NAHL

Head Coach Bryan Erikson had the following to say on the group’s split against division leaders, the Maryland Black Bears. The team is .500 after the week as well.

Erikson said “ Friday I thought we played very well and earned a great win. We skated hard and were very opportunistic scoring goals. It was a good battle and Cullen DeYoung played very well in net. Last night I thought we came out a bit flat but responded really well after falling behind 2-0. Our forwards did a great job keeping us in the game and battling back but I thought our Defense let us down a bit. 3 goals that can’t happen. We are too far into the season to let guys just get behind us. It is very frustrating because I thought we played well enough to win and DeYoung played well again. Frustrating but Maryland is a very good team and they are great in transition. A split on the road isn’t terrible. Now we have 2 weeks to get ready for our road trip to Jamestown where we know they will play a hard hard game.”

NA3HL team results

Erikson also discussed the still undefeated group lead by Head Coach Daryl Locke. As Erikson says “Solid game played on Friday. Did a good job getting the win vs a well coached Norwich team. And then on Saturday they put together what I thought was their best effort of the year. Dominant in all phases of the game in a battle of unbeaten teams. Really a great example of a team win. Todays game was sluggish and the Titans pushed back as expected but a wins a win and now we go to Long Beach to play another very good team.”

Once again, the NA3HL group is poised to have another good season based on their strong start, veteran leadership, and strong goaltending as the team looks to get back to the Fraser Cup. The team has strong goaltending, depth up and down its lineup, and has been able to get ahead of teams this year because they play a consistent game, value a high volume of quality shots, and for most of their games have forced their opponent to catch up to them.
