Associate Head Coach Zach McKelvie was direct on the good, not good and more as the team gets ready to play next weekends

“Anthony Firriolo had a really nice game, Max Itagaki played well also. A few other guys played alright but as a team there weren’t many positives tonight.”

Our team is young. We don’t have grad transfers or 5th year guys and that is just fine with us. We recruit our guys and need to develop them so there will be some growing pains along the way. I think our guys are realizing how fine the margin is and it takes a tremendous compete level and mental focus to win. We showed we are capable of that in the 3rd but now we need to show that for 60 minutes We learned that we have work to do from coaches on down. This group isn’t afraid to work so we will make sure we put in work daily and get better from it.”

Zach also gave some comments about the depth players that showed up tonight.

“The whole line chart ! but if you’re going off our line chart…the best guys on the bottom 2 lines were Kanta and Dosan. They bring energy on the ice and on the bench, they are going to be very good players for us.”

Zach also said of his stating goalies support and what comes next for his team:

“Gav didn’t get any help. We need to play better in front of him and we can’t take that many penalties. It’s tough to go on the road and play 3on5 to start the game.To move forward we will take things One day at a time. We have a lot of good players. We are focused on improving everyday and peaking at the right time. We will get to where we need to be at the right time.”
