Army West Point played two games against Lindenwood and got swept by the Lions. Hear from Associate Head Coach Zach McKelvie on some select topics from the weekend as the group heads into a bye week. After the bye comes a long stretch of Atlantic Hockey play that could determine if this group will earn postseason hockey or not.

On the bye

“Usually bye weeks are good to be able to reset and reassess the team. For this team, it’s a good time for a break. We are struggling right now and we need to figure out a solution as a group. This by week will be used as a restart to season. We need to learn from the past 9 games but at same time need to still move forward and stay together.”

On players trying to pass too much

“Yeah simplifying game will certainly help. We have a lot of guys that aren’t playing with urgency in the high danger areas. Competing on pucks and staying in on plays takes zero skill so that is an area that we need to improve.”

On what he likes about this group off the ice

“Awesome group of guys to work with. These times suck to go through but can make you stronger as a group. We have the guys we want in the room, they are great to be around everyday. This is the best school in the world and we are unbelievably fortunate to have the privilege to be a part of their journey through West Point.”
