Head Coach for the Columbia Infantry, Jacob Smulevitch, took us through another big week for his organization. The Elite team put together their first ever home sweep on the weekend while the Premier team continues to grow and develop on and off the ice. As Smulevitch said “the elite team has continued to grow. It is a group that never takes anything for granted and truly enjoys being at the rink every single day, I think they will have a special end to this season.”

He added for the premier team “our premier group showed a lot of heart and a lot of fight this weekend. I think we need to emphasize our special teams as they were a big part of us getting swept.”

On playing at home in Irmo at their arena he said , “we love playing at home as we feel like we have a great setup there. Having the Columbia Warriors army veterans hockey team at our game Saturday was very special to us.”

On the culture of the Infantry and some standouts on the weekend Smulevitch said

“We are continuing to try to build the culture each day. Even if it means sacrificing a win here or there we want to establish a strong culture for years to come.

Mason Hartz is a player who has moved up to the premier level and made an immediate impact while Jake marcoux who played for me in Charlotte last season had 4 assists in his 1st 2 games with the infantry this weekend at the elite level.”
