Associate Head Coach of Army Zach McKelvie had a lot of great things to say about the Army win tonight.

“ We had a lot of good plays tonight, competed hard, solid win as a group.” The team came together behind two goals from Joey Baez to win in overtime against Niagara on the road in comeback fashion. Army is battling to earn home ice in Atlantic Hockey for the first round and this win was much needed. This young team put a game together to show what they can do down the stretch. As for what’s next he said , “we just focus on next game and what we have to do to win. There is definitely increased intensity at this point in the season. Our goal is to be playing our best hockey of the year down the stretch.”

The best line for Army had Max Itagaki and Joey Baez on it. McKelvie talked about how that line came together “Well we split up Max, Joey, and Johnny K and all the lines played well tonight. This guys can play solid together but sometimes splitting them up like we did tonight is best for the team.”

In net Justin Evenson won the game through his effort and consistency , as McKelvie said “Justin played really solid tonight, had a huge save in the third which goes a long way when trying to tie the game. He has played well most of the year.”

For the series finale McKelvie was blunt in saying that the win was a “solid team effort against a good, well coached team. Will need to be even better tomorrow.”
