Rush to Nichols: More on many stars heading to the next level

Trevor Jewell took some time to talk with us recently about two Charlotte Rush stars who committed to Nichols College. With star goalie Nick Anderson committing there as well, we will have more from the Rush on that in the days ahead.

This year we have had a few guys commit to Nichols College. A program that is well known within the D3 landscape. They have gone through a bit of a rebuilding process recently but with Coach Gacek at the helm, I believe they will be extremely competitive very quickly.

With our two most recent Nichols commits in Dylan Ray & Zach Gmerek, the road to committing was fairly easy for them.

Dylan had a few options on the table, but every time we would chat about it, he would always turn back to Nichols. He thoroughly enjoyed it there on his visit, from facilities to academics, he loved it. Coach Gacek did a phenomenal job communicating with him and showing him the path for him once on the Nichols campus. So naturally, committing there just felt right for him.

Zach had interest from several schools, but ultimately chose nichols for what Coach Gacek had to offer in terms of the one ice product and more importantly with academics. He was also raving about the campus and facilities once he returned. Nichols is the perfect fit for Zach with the academics and athletics providing exactly what he wanted.

Both of these players came a long way in their time in Charlotte. They we a D pair you could count on in critical moments, provided offense from the back end and always drove plays north. From last season to this season they took major strides forward in every aspect of their game. Off the ice, I can’t say enough. The amount of time they put in with their billet brothers at their houses as well as at the rink at their practices was special. They were leaders and voices in the locker room that guys looked to as well. What they accomplished on and off the ice here in Charlotte will always be remembered. They were truly a pleasure to have around each and every day. We cannot wait to see how their college careers unfold and the success they will have.”
