Qualifying for the Rush: Get some insight on Charlotte Rush Training Camp from Trevor Kleckner

Coming into the season, we hear so much about the standard and setting the standard for hockey teams around the world.

The Charlotte Rush live that, it is not a cliche but the normal standard operating procedure. This is a team and ownership group that always expects the best and does what they can to provide for their team.

Elite Head Coach and Premier Assistant Coach Trevor Kleckner took us through everything which serves as a guide to how the Rush attack the process of building a team and seeing where everyone is.

“Heading into training camp, we do not have any players set on either Elite or Premier. We give every player a fair and honest opportunity to make either team. In the offseason we have certain inclinations to where players will be but it comes down to who’s been putting in the effort the most this offseason.

Throughout training camp as we’re scouting and watching each player’s physical abilities we also observe their character. Who are the players who are picking each other up and supporting each other and who are the ones barking out orders. We put them through such a demanding workout to see who can remain the most steady in the most difficult times. It really brings out the best and the worst in certain guys.

For training camp we will have all of our players split into two different teams named after successful alumni who have come through the organization. This year we will have Team Dill, named after brothers Tyler and Zach Dill, and Team Bennett, named after Blake Bennett. Sunday starts with our fitness testing off the ice, headshots, and systems breakdown. Monday through Fridayboth teams start with an off ice workout, followed by an on ice session, another workout, system review, and then team building to end the day. Instead of preseason scrimmages this season we will have intrasquad scrimmages to see how our players compete against each other for roster spots. It is an intense schedule designed to see who is prepared to be a member of the Charlotte Rush.”
