CPH: Week in Review

Hear from Jeff Holdenrid on the week that was for Carolina Premier Hockey.

“It was a great weekend at home for a few of our teams, lots of goals and lots of wins. 16U travelled to Columbus Ohio and posted a 1-1-2 weekend. Moving into week 10 we have 6 teams traveling to Knoxville, Hampton Roads, Raleigh, and Notre Dame. Should have a lot to report next week.

16UAAGood weekend in Columbus. Nothing like a team event watching Ohio State and Michigan State battle it out in a NCAAD1 match up. First game was a good wake up call for us. A game where we played well just couldn’t pick up any offense. We ended up losing 5-0. Game 2 we had a good first period but then fell into old habits and a short bench. We ended up tying 2-2 to North Pittsburgh. We played the undefeated Rockford Rams in game 3 in Taft Coliseum where we had one of our better games of the weekend. We really showed our resilience after going down a few times but ended up tying 2-2 again. In the 3rd-4th place game we had Pittsburgh again where we had our best game on the forecheck. Ryan made some big saves to secure his first win of the season. Overall a good weekend and something to build on.
14UACPH 14uA battled not only the Triad Storm this past weekend, but also a wave of illness that hit the team. With one of our key players out and several others at less than 100%, CPH put together 6 solid periods of hockey to sweep the Storm at the Pineville Ice House. A 5-0 shutout on Saturday night was followed by a 5-1 victory on Sunday morning. The team is off to Hampton Roads, Virginia for the Beach Veterans Cup this coming weekend.
14UAACPH 14UAA puts on a winning performance, the weekend of November 4th, against the Carolina JR Hurricanes. Saturday CPH led off the scoring in the 2nd period with a goal by Liam Wellman, assisted by Wilson Klein. Less than two minutes later the Canes tied the score after a small defensive lapse. CPH then turned on the defense and did not allow another goal for the remainder of the game. Chase Casale netted the game winning goal at the end of the 2nd period, assisted by Matthew Chriscoe. During the 3rd period CPH continued the defensive domination and ended the game with an empty net goal by Matthew Chriscoe. Jonah Hancock put on a stellar performance in net stopping several grade A chances. Then on Sunday CPH continued where they left off, on Sunday, with another sound defensive game. Two scores in the second period by Brooks Gallamore and Jack Bannon provided the boost for CPH to finish the game with a shutout performance by Kirill ZEZIULEVICH.At the end of the weekend CPH moves into a tie for 3rd place, with two games in hand, in their CHL bracket.
10UA10UA continued to make strides forward. They played against a tough QCR team, but stayed positive and worked hard for the entire game.”
