Charlotte Rush Elite week in review

Hear from Rush Coach Trevor Kleckner on the strong week that the Elite team has had ahead of their weekend series against Potomac this weekend.

“ I thought the break came at a great time for our group. We’re one of the few teams in the league that play from the beginning of September until Thanksgiving Break with no off weekends. We knew coming out of Thanksgiving break we only had three weeks until Christmas Break and we wanted to see if both teams could come back as focused as they were for the first three months. It’s very easy to be mentally disengaged at this point where you’ve just gotten back to Charlotte from seeing your family after being away for three months and to already have your mind on Christmas Break. We challenged the guys to show us that they were focused enough to get the sweep this weekend and they definitely showed that. We were extremely proud of their focus.

An unsung hero on the Elite team would be Carson Olson. Carson came to us and battled extremely hard during training camp where his work ethic was never a question. Early on he was in and out of the lineup and knew that the weakest part of his game was his hands. While he was in and out of the lineup, he was never upset and he never complained. He has always wanted to help the team in any facet. He has continually put in the work off the ice each and every day to work on that aspect of his game and this past weekend he got an opportunity on the first line with Spencer Barrow and John Tsatsoulis. He ended the weekend with his first junior hockey goal and an assist, and showed that good things happen to good people.

An unsung hero on the Premier team would be Owen Cross. Owen has been continually improving this year where he had a slow start in adjusting to his first season of junior hockey, which is to be expected. He has come to the rink every single day with a great attitude and willing to do whatever it takes for the team to have success. In doing so he has worked his way up the lineup to where he has a goal in five straight games with three of those coming against the 1st and 3rd place teams in our division. We could not be happier for Owen as again it’s a case of good things happening to good people.”
