This week was lighter on the ice for the Generals. The NAHL team was idle and the NA3HL team won their only game. Here are thoughts from Each Coach on the week.
NAHL Coach Bryan Erikson
“The moves of Kolnik and Marnauzs were very tough. We still had 28 guys here and we had to make some moves. It wasn’t about what they did or didn’t do but more about what others guys did. With Landon he did everything we asked. Gritty player, great kid with a phenomenal work ethic. But we have had Joey McGraw who is still 15 here and we have handled him with kid gloves and he has proven he is ready to play a regular role. He has elite upside and we want to reward him for his hard work. As for Marty we had 9 D here and Marty is a league veteran that we thought deserved to be in the line-up every night. So we found him an opportunity to do just that. Great kid with D1 upside. But we love what Jacob Kaminski and Matthew DeSpirit have brought to the team both on and off the ice. Really excited to get them more ice time.We are excited to get healthy and finish off the year with 2 in Jamestown and then 2 in Johnstown. There are no easy games in this division but we are excited to see if our improvement continues this weekend.
And the biggest impact player we have added is David Tolan. The 03 from Shattuck St. Mary’s has a huge upside. He skates real well, has a great feel for the game and can absolutely rip the puck. He will be an elite goal scorer at this level sooner rather than later.”
NA3HL Coach Daryl Locke
“ I thought we came out with energy. We picked up some penalties early on but once again our penalty killers bailed us out. Mason Joseph made some timely saves as usual. The line of Matt Nuzzolilo, Nolan Murphy, and recent call up from our U18 Gens NAPHL Team Nolan Zotter, we’re electric for us. We’ve been hit with the injury bug lately. We’re pulling U18 player’s up and plugging them into the lineup. So far so good as they haven’t skipped a beat. The NA3HL Showcase is eight days away and as we prepare we want to push the pace this week. We know all three teams we’re playing are big, strong , fast, and physical. We need to match that if we’re going to be successful and it all starts with practice on Monday.”
