Mercyhurst Howard Coach Rick Gotkin was honest. “Cade Townend came up the ice, zipped it down to Noah Kane who made an unbelievable pass to Rylee St Onge and Rylee the guy you want with the puck on his stick.”

On the evening Gotkin said “I was confident if we could regroup tonight and defend well then we’d have a chance and that’s exactly what we did.”

Gotkin also took the time to praise Cade Townend “ he’s quietly scoring big goals for us, he’s a hardworking guy who gets rewarded.”

Gotkin also praised Hank Johnson for his effort and work in net keeping his team in the game when they were down two goals multiple times. “Our guys love him, our coaches love him, he’s a great kid and a terrific goaltender.”

Hank Johnson passed the gator to Pierce Crawford who scored the goal to push things to a one goal game. Crawford was the player of the game as voted on by his team. The gator helmet goes to the player of the game and Crawford had the goal that brought the Lakers within one.

Gotkin praised the efforts of many players who didn’t score a point. Paul Ost , Kyler ahead and many more all chipped in “ I feel bad because I’m missing some guys.”

St Onge said “ I saw our d man coming in, he pushed it down the wall it went to kaner.” Then Kane found him for the winner and Et Onge made his superb move to open a lane to slide the puck in.

On the night Rylee said that “it was huge for us to win it, it was huge to get this last out of conference game under our belt.”

St Onge praised the coaches keeping them level “ they were trying to keep us focused and not getting away from our game plan.” The team now has until January 13 to get ready for their series against AIC on the road.
