Ahead of first responders/military appreciation night, Associate Head Coach Trevor Kleckner and the Rush took the Elite team to visit local members of the Armed Forces. The team is working to develop players on and off the ice and showing them and exposing them to local leaders who embody the idea of serving others and being a part of something bigger than themselves is a big part of what the Rush strive to do.

Kleckner said that “

Following our Premier leadership group visiting the Pineville fire department to meet and talk with their staff about the sacrifice it takes to do their job, we felt it was necessary for our Elite leadership group to experience the same. The four captains visited the Charlotte Armed Forces Career Center, stopping by the branch offices of the US Air Force, US Army, and US Marine Corps, presenting them with an authentic home Rush jersey and showing their appreciation for their decision to protect the United States. The players also invited them to our First Responders/Military Appreciation night this Saturday night with free admission in appreciation of the sacrifices they have made to defend our freedoms.

Previous Rush players, such as former goaltender Anthony Keating, have enlisted in the armed forces to answer the call in defending our nation. Having the opportunity to talk to enlisted young men and women about their experiences on the front lines really opened the eyes of our Elite leadership group in how they can better lead by example. I am excited to see how they can use what they have learned today from these heroes and apply it to their leadership roles within the team.”
