The Northeast Generals are trying to make and win the Robertson Cup Playoffs. That is the motivation behind these win now trades lead by General Manager Matt Dibble. Teams in their position of battling for a playoff spot get to make these moves and it’s the opposite types of moves from what they made last year, now they are giving veterans a chance to make one final playoff run. For their second trade from the middle third of the country they picked up veteran forward Alexander Krause from the El Paso Rhinos. Dibble and Erikson saw him lead the way last year for their opponent this weekend, the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks.
On the trade Dibble explained things quite well saying of the Dartmouth Commit “
Bryan and I have been discussing how we can make a push for the Robertson cup. We think we are super close but want to add a piece or two for the stretch run. We addressed the blue line with Orr and think we improve our forward group with Krause.
We gave up 3 tenders and a 2nd round pick, a lofty price. I think it may be the biggest asset price in a long time but we think he’s important enough to get us to the team we want to be. We also didn’t care the price if it meant getting a piece we needed.
Make no mistake about it, we believe that Alex will come in here and play a big role right away. We think he can produce immediately but also plays the right way with effort and defensive responsibility. There is a ton of value in bringing veteran players in so they can show our younger players the way.”
Erikson added “Alex is a proven point per game guy in the NAHL that brings some veteran leadership to our young team. Matt Dibble did a great job making this trade. We had identified 2 needs before the upcoming trade deadline. One was a 01 left shot d man which we got in Evan Orr and he has been better than we expected. And two was a 01 Left Shot Forward which we acquired in Krause. We are very happy with the trade and think Alex will be a huge difference maker as we make a run here to end the regular season and into the playoffs.”
He did note that the Generals made another move today, adding “We also traded the rights to Anton Castro for a Tender and a 2nd round pick to Aberdeen…(Anton is a) great kid and goalie.”
