For Carolina Premier Hockey, building the best staff is always important. With the 23-24 season fast approaching, Jon De Castro has been working with his team to get that in place. Hear from him on the staff he’s helped put together and more.
“The 2023-2024 season for Carolina Premier Hockey is going to be epic. Over the last few weeks CPH directors have been conducting interviews with coaches to make sure we find the right fit for the culture we are building and we are so excited to be able to announce our Tier 1 AAA and Tier 2 AA leaders.
Someone once told me, “Don’t look for good coaches, look for good people and if they are coaches that is even better”.
That is one of the main reasons we have selected these people to lead our youth over the next season. Good people with lots of playing and coaching backgrounds. People that share our vision of player development, passion for the game, and people that build a fun environment for the players. We have experience like Troy Schwab our 15U AAA coach most recently coaching at the USPHL Premier Charlotte Rush. Mike Keller our 12UAAA coach, he is an up-and-coming from the NAHL and coaching locally the last couple of seasons.
At the AA level we are blessed to have returning both Brandon Corder, and Mike Lorusso.
Both these coaches have been with CPH and are a part of our history. They continue to be a part of our growth and future. Brandon is returning to us as the 10UAA coach and Mike will once again take the bench for our 12U team. To say that Coach Brandon and Coach Mike are integral to our hockey family is a massive understatement. We are incredibly lucky to have them.
New to our group this year is Isaiah Bennis, so excited to have this guy join us leading the 14U team. A former NCAA Champion played for University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. He also spent some time in the NAHL. He has been coaching on-and-off for the last decades and brings so much knowledge and expertise to our CPH family.
Moving on to our 16U’s. Our very own Jon de Castro, the Hockey Director and Goaltending Development Coach for CPH. He has been great with our families and our kids on and off the ice. When you walk around the rink he knows the families and has such a great repore with them. Not to mention he is a former IIHF Bronze medal winner, and also coached abroad. Ask him for stories. So excited for this group, the sky’s the limit.
Last but not least, are excited to have Jeff Holdenrid return to CPH in an expanded role. At the end of last season, we announced Jeff would join the CPH staff as the Director of Programing. This expanded role will look to have Jeff help out in a myriad of ways throughout CPH. From helping strengthen the communication & flow of operations within the organization, to helping out on the ice, he will be absolutely integral to the success of Carolina Premier Hockey going forward. We are excited to see the wonderful ideas surrounding that will be brought to the table in all facets within CPH.
Carolina Premier Hockey is here to grow and stay, a place where development is a priority and the people to make that happen are right here.
Tryouts are coming soon:
